Something I’ve noticed: two candidates can give equally strong answers, but one “feels” more convincing. I’m trying to understand what creates that difference. Is it clarity, confidence, storytelling, or just presence? Curious what people think actually makes someone believable in an interview.

It’s hard to describe. I would say it’s a certain level of comfort while they are speaking that you pick up on.

I think relatability and sometimes subconscious bias has a lot to do with it.

Presence matters too. Enthusiasm and engagement can make a candidate feel more authentic.

Hello, I am a junior business administrator working in advisory operations. I have been with the company for 6 months, and was employed along with 2 other colleagues. I have picked the job up really fast and am even doing some “extra curricula’s” I really love my job. However I have recently found out I am being paid the same as an apprentice on my team, I usually do at 3 x the work he does whilst also doing my Cert CII. It has really disheartened me and I feel I should be earning more money

I feel like every company lies about “working your way up.” You’re never allowed to blatantly say that you don’t like your position and you’d like to transition to HR or Finance. It’s almost as if once you get in claims, you’re stuck.

If you’re a manager and you see an employee that wants to branch out into a different department, why would you keep them boxed in for 2+ years?

Are there some background mechanics that I’m missing?

On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the most, how pissed would you be if you were a supervisor and you had a new direct report on your team with a higher salary than you? The years of experience are the same, but you have 3 designations (they have 0), you have 3 licenses (they have just 2), they have little to no experience with technical complex claims (you have hundreds), and you have 3 years in management (they have 0).
