Always always wait for the background to clear. Many people have completely good backgrounds, but can fail background checks for very minor reasons.
I always make sure background check is complete. No point in taking a risk. The recruiter even asked me if I was worried about anything - and Ofcourse I had no concerns but don’t want to take the chance and that’s what I told her as well). The old company with any HR regulations should only give your title and when u left them. Nothing else. Background check besides employment also includes credit and other criminal checks.
I would wait till background check clears. Employers are a sneaky lot. Get the offer and if you can, get it in wtiting
I’ve left at least 4 companies over my career. From that experience, I now lean more toward not giving 2 week notice unless it is a clause in your current employment arrangement/contract. On 2 occasions, I gave 2 weeks notice and my existing employer allowed me to stay around and get paid. In another situation, I didn’t give notice because I had to work at least one day in the month of departure in order for my medical insurance to persist for the remainder of month. That was crucial due to a week or two gap in start date.
Last time I put in 2 week notice occurred in 2020. Instead of letting me stay the remaining 2 weeks, I was let go the same day which I was ok with since I figured I would still be paid for the 2 weeks. Not only was I not paid, my health insurance also expired the day they let me go.
TLDR, if 2 weeks notice isn’t required, don’t give it since you may be kicked out without remaining pay and insurance.
Personally I told my manager as soon as I signed the paperwork. But my case is slightly different as I gave a 2 months notice period
Mostly agree with above, though if you don’t have a felony or serious misdemeanor you intentionally didn’t disclose in the app earlier, you’re good. Signed someone who had a misdemeanor switching to a B4
Wait
Why would you not wait?
Make sure that you have the job thin you can put in your 2 week notice.
