Anyone looking for a room mate in Sydney?
Hi All,
Looking to make the move from working in industry to big4 and was curious as to what level and pay I might be worth?
I have 10 years experience out of uni, as well as completed CPA and MBA. I have a experience in managing entire finance function of small/medium entities, but most notably solid corporate finance experience/strategy leading refinance exercises, debt raising, hedging/treasury strategy etc…Would be looking for something in deal advisory / M&A / CFO advisory etc….thanks Deloitte EY PwC @

I love it. Hate the salary cut but love being able to get off work and surf the northern beaches.
Northern beaches are great.
I did. I will always hate driving on the left side of the road, the time difference and distance from my friends and family, and the lack of credit cards offering decent rewards and no foreign transaction fees. But I will never be able to return to American coffee or the US healthcare system.
I moved for my spouse’s career, so I’ve had to take a step back on mine. Putting my old US salary into Google is particularly brutal now since I took way more of a pay cut with the present exchange rate. It doesn’t help that my current role isn’t the right culture fit with too much hierarchy and being risk adverse, but that is what happens with oligopolies that are too big to fail.
That’s what I’m currently doing, but the exchange rate is rough right now.
I did a few weeks ago. Loving it so far. Previously had grown up in the US and lived / worked across most of the major cities there and also in Europe as well.
I see the move as a lifestyle and values sort of thing. I value those more than grabbing extra $$$ and working myself into the ground in corporate America, even though my earnings potential is so much higher in the US. Here, you’re also surrounded by people who have the same mentality.
I can have a good balanced life here with a decent (but not insanely high as in the US) salary, and that’s good enough for me. People also seem to be nicer, both generally and also in the professional services industry.
So, personally, it was easily worth the trade off.
M2 - they do, but I had been living in Europe the last few years, and it was time for a change!
I did and then came back. COL and opportunities were main issue. Might go back for right opportunities.

Did it, enjoying the lifestyle. What type of work do you do?
Anyone know of good means for shifting money from the USA to AUS (and vice versa)?
I use wise (formerly transferwise)
Did anyone bring their TVs over? I'm tempted to buy an OLED in the US during black friday and bring it over with me but not sure if I'm going to have power/signal issues
I only brought electronics over that are dual voltage. If it’s US voltage only, it won’t work here.
