Currently I'm in last phase of interviewing with Apple, Austin TX. What would be a decent compensation TC (Base + RSU) for a non-software related Quality Engineering based position? I have been looking at quite low offers on Glassdoor, but folks on fishbowl seem to share quite high offers, so not sure how much should I negotiate for!

That’s wild. I would reach out to the recruiter and let them know how that rejection felt. Companies so often care about their repetition as a good place to work and the more feedback they get about the stuff the more likely it is to affect change.
I had a company screw up their appointment times and they couldn't answer basic questions about role responsibilities. I told them I was done with the meeting and left. The recruiter called me before I left the parking lot, complaining about my behavior. No, the recruiter usually doesn't care about the hiree because that's not who is paying.
While you're losing your weekend, what are they doing? How far along in the interview cycle are you? Is it the beginning or the end?
Personally, if I were told of the take home project from the beginning, I would walk away. It's a bad sign that they won't respect your time now or in the future. But if it's at the end and it got you that much closer to your dream job, take the win. You put in the effort and it didn't pan out... this time.
