2020 grad M&A/PE Associate in LCOL area thinking about moving to a ECVC/M&A boutique. I generally like the work I do and the people I work with, but I really don’t like the hours and the constant late nights and weekends. Currently on pace for 2250. Boutique I have been eyeing has billable hour requirement of 1500-1600 and comes with a 20-25% paycut. Is this a stupid idea and should I grind it out until I can move in house? So I started the Google Project Management course on Coursera so I gain an "edge"/second look; I'm halfway through it with 3 more modules to go but am seeing conflicting info on if this certificate on resumes is THAT helpful?

Have 3 busy seasons of big4 audit experience and going on 3 years in the finance/ops department of a F75 company. CPA and I’ve always been a top performer. Job transition question: I recently accepted an offer for a new role with Merrill Lynch, the following day I was fired from my previous employer. I haven’t filled out the updated work history background check info yet. The reason for termination was due to performance expectations not being met. Should I reach out to my new employer and let them know that I’ve been terminated? Should I just put the termination update on the background check form and leave it at that? I have a close friend who graduated with a 2.5 GPA from a no name brand school.. he’s looking for entry level Business Analyst, Financial Analyst, PM or business related rotation programs and having a real hard time. He had a major life event during college that impacted his GPA. I don’t believe GPA correlates much with being a great employee especially since most of the learning is on the job.
