anyone hear back about APMM program offers?
I’ve put myself up for L4 promo this cycle. Assuming I get it, what would be the best next steps to optimize for long-term growth/TC?
My understanding is that L5->L6 is extremely painful at Google. It may be easier to leave for a handful of years and gain managerial experience before returning.
L4->L5 is less challenging; however, I’m under the impression I can do this quicker at another company (if I leave after being freshly promo’d) AND get higher TC.

You’ll be surprised with how powerful and neat chromebooks can be.
These MBB consultants never fit culture wise due to their pretentious and entitled attitude
Stay away
You’re a tool, OP.
Want a Mac? Go join Apple.
To be fair, you can use a Mac in many places (including Google), so no need to join Apple for that. But yeah, OP sounds like a tool.

For the most part, non-Eng folks don’t get Mac’s anymore. So even if you got one a few years ago, you can’t get a new one
I didn't realize Google were hiring children these days. Best of luck with that attitude.
Why would you work for Google using a competitor device? If you want to use a Mac you can go to Apple 🤭
What does your job require that can’t be done with a Chromebook?
Been there at Google during Covid and trust me, chromebooks are way better than people think.
Also, most of things at Google are cloud based, so you do not need to install any software locally on the machine. When it comes to core engineering workloads, we used beefy cloud-top instances (64-cores, 256Gig memory) which are way better than mac.
PS: chromebook worked perfectly fine with my personal setup of 2x 34inch monitor, web cam and other peripherals without breaking sweat. Cherry on top, chromebooks never thermal throttle where as the mac would just start buzzing like a giant fan after an hour of use with the same setup
Didn’t know Google gives out chromebooks. I know it’s their OS and all but that’s wild, even uni students can’t get stuff done on that. Thinkpad or bust for me
