starting my first FT job and planning on investing 1k each month. any advice on how and where to invest this money?

Feeling a lot of pressure to buy an apt as my partner and I are in mid 30s and see ourselves living here (Brooklyn) long term. Can’t get over the high prices, high fees and idea of sinking all of my money from the market into one asset. Every apt for sale we are seeing is less nice and highly monthly cost than our rental unit which we love and running the numbers never looks good. Convince me why I’m wrong

Has anyone here participated in the year long remote year program? My company is fully remote in the US and is in general supportive of me going but concerned about local and international tax liability. Remote year doesn’t share tax advice and our HR team is small. Curious to hear from people at companies who have done it before and if there were any issues from a tax or payroll perspective. Trying to get the formal approval from my company before officially signing up, advice welcome!

I only bring in a little over $2,600 a month. After paying all my expenses, I get to put away $500 a month in savings but don’t have much wiggle room for anything else, including going out money.

I’m very privileged to have a significant inheritance and zero debt of any kind. I really wonder how my peers who have student loans, car payments, and even children manage to pay their bills and live so comfortably. Please share if this is you!

What are folks thoughts on nuclear power? I have heard there are many detractors. Before getting into consulting, I was trained to operate a nuclear power plant on a submarine and learned about this excellent source of energy.

The main issues I see with it are the initial upfront costs to setup (with the cheapest generation costs thereafter), and disposal of nuclear waste (which some new technologies are being developed to reuse the waste in a different kind of reactor).

Can someone help me understand why people are pumping crazy money into DoorDash and AirBnb but didn’t go equally Gaga for Palantir?
Don’t get me wrong, I like DD and Airbnb, but the $100+/share seems odd to me given that both are susceptible to regulatory and overall consumer confidence. I was able to buy into PLTR for $11/ share fwiw and think that company has better long-term upside prospects.
But again, would love to better understand the DASH and ABNB mania. Feel like I’m missing something
