I’m starting the IVF process and planning to do my first egg retrieval in early June. I’m hoping to do back-to-back retrievals due to my age and hoping to have at least a few healthy embryos before we try our first transfer. I have Anthem BCBS has anyone done this and has insurance/fertility benefits covered it? Thanks!

I had a similar plan. I had to pay for the second round out of pocket because I hit the lifetime insurance max after the first round. It was frustrating, but worth it to get the extra embryos because it didn’t work right away. I’m now 8 months pregnant and only have embryos from the second round left should we try again!

Ah ok good to know and congratulations on your baby!

It’s more based on your employer vs the insurance carrier. Some require rounds of iui first before so look into that so you don’t waste extra time.

Yes, Deloitte BCBS covers fertility treatment including egg retreival and IVF procedure upto $25000. This does not include genetic testing and egg freezing and storage. By the current cost of IVF, it should probably be able to cover upto 2 cycles.

like

Awesome thank you!

You wont do back to back cycles bc your doctor will insist yiu take a month off to avoid ovarian hyperstimukation and results are better if you do.

Some insurance will not cover a second cycle if you have at least one genetically normal embryo from the first cycle. Check this.

Two cycles with testing and drugs were closer to 42K for me in SF with a bundl package. IVF may be cheaper where you are.

Good to know and they did mention taking a cycle off in between which definitely makes sense, thank you.

I called and talked to the financial advisor at my IVF location and they did say Anthem did not put any stipulations on back-to-back retrievals (taking a cycle off in b/w) regardless of obtaining viable/healthy embryos so fingers crossed that is truly the case.

like

Im still not fulky understandingwhy you don't want to take a month off when it is both less dangerous and clinically more advantageous to do so.

IVF is hard on your body. You need time!

Listen to your doctors!

like

If you’re in NY the nominee is required to cover three cycles but not sure if Anthem allows you to “bank” embryos if you get any genetically good ones on first retrieval

I didn't apply for a job that would have set me up for the future in the government. I wouldn't have to worry about money or future jobs. My boss had just given me a small pay rise and talked up the future and so I felt good. I now severely regret not applying for the job and cannot stop thinking about it to the point of insomnia and depression. I even contacted the employer but too late. It's a small town and rarely anything comes up. I hate myself and feel like I failed my family. :(

Trying to have faith but my recent cycle netted 16 eggs, 8 fertilized and only 2 made it to day 5 for testing. There were 3 others that just didn’t mature. Just tired, still bloated and not feeling all that hopeful as we enter this LONG wait until we get the results next week. I hate feeling like this knowing my chances are getting slimmer by the day.

I’m 25 and have found a duplex I’m considering purchasing as a rental property. Planning on renting both units and have the cash to make the down payment without an issue. My cash flow analysis has a payback period of 3 years for my down payment and a 13 year payback period for the whole investment. I think financially it makes sense. My question is, is it realistic for a 25 year old young professional to handle dealing with all the extra curricular’s that come with owning a rental property ?
