State job or PA career path, then transition to state job? Ultimately want to have state job and side business as a long term plan. But I am open to opposing advise. Would likely pivot to a sub senior position in PA as I do not have CPA yet - 4 YOE in the field of accounting, but do meeting licensure requirements, once passed. MCOL, my area basically only has Wipfli, few decent private sector jobs, or working for the state for decent pay & great benefits. Thanks for your input

Why would anyone trade their time and time with family for slave hours and money that you could make having your own thing or somewhere else? Everybody sounds miserable at big fours. What’s ur take?

Tax senior with CPA at small firm. Best way to get to Big 4 audit? (LA or OC) Went to non-target so little to no alumni at B4. I don’t mind the switch to a lower title since audit was always my preference and was never a fan of tax (stayed local for family).

Dumb questions but genuinely curious:

1) Let’s say you’re a recent undergrad candidate with no internships on your resume. What’s the deciding factor that you’re qualified for Advisory vs Tax vs Audit? Is it school, gpa, etc.?

2) Why can’t you switch from Tax to another SL without having to pull strings? I understand that there’s a difference in tax vs book experience but why does the Accounting field gatekeep other SLs? It’s not like we’re incapable of learning other areas.
