Stop Hiring by Location, Start Hiring by Skill

The future of work is borderless. 🌍 If the job can be done online, the location shouldn't matter. Employers who embrace 100% remote work policies access a wider talent pool and see higher employee satisfaction.
Why limit growth to a specific country? Let’s move toward a truly global workforce where results matter more than desk location.
Is remote work a "must-have" for you in 2026? Share your thoughts!

Be careful what you wish for. A global workforce means you're now competing with the whole world for work, not just in your local community.

Tbh companies don't care. They can get as many qualified people as they want in their location and then recoup money by leveraging tax incentives for physical office spaces. Its one of the many corporate grifts.

And which remote employment site do you work for? Working remotely for me means just not being involved in decisions made through IMs instead of being involved in physical rooms together.

I don’t like this direction.. when the timezones are too distributed so much gets lost and getting the work done gets harder

Greetings from Madison, Wisconsin. I'm a reporter with more than 32 years of experience and I feel that, lately, local television news has been kind of dead, but I am pleased to fight for it from my local newspaper. Locals love to see someone from their own town succeeding or finding out something inspiring.

I am a firm believer that this will not change for a long time, local TV will continue to live as long as we stand for it.

Hi all - just joining and looking for some guidance! I am currently in an IT internship position (making pretty solid money considering) and following this summer I will stay on part time during my senior year (discussing a full-time job offer after already). I’m getting my computer science degree, so I would like to do something more technical in the workplace when I graduate. How do I advocate myself for that to my manager without sounding unappreciative of the position I’m in?

Hello!
I’m a student majoring in Software Engineering. I’m starting my third year in a few months and have an internship where I’m learning more about working with an actual team on real-world projects. However, I feel like I need to do more to stand out and have a stronger software background. Anyone have any tips or suggestions for what I should do on my own time to strengthen my skills?

So, I've realised there's a problem with developers, a lot of them are coders, not engineers. And another issue, is that, companies don't really care about their progression as far as I'm aware, so what did you guys do in your own time to transition from being a coder to an engineer?

I currently work as a Contracted Software Engineer and I’m set to finish my contracted time at the end of October. To stay ahead of game I started to move forward in the interview process with another opportunity as an Application Software Programmer and just received notification that I got the position. I definitely could use the extra paycheck to help out with my financial obligations. Just wanted to see if anyone has done this before.

Please help. I’ve moved up the ranks pretty quickly at the company I work for to become a Principal SE. My manager thinks the best next step for me is to move into management and leadership and has started pushing me to apply for an engineering manager role. They say that I will be a good fit because of my strong technical background paired with the leadership and people skills I display currently.

I’m torn because I do love being an IC but I’m interested in leadership also. What do I do?
