[Strategy consulting managers] How do you control/authorize your consultants to use AI within their day to day work?

Seeing rampant usage with no critical thinking employed. Sometimes easy to catch (e.g., ridiculously worded sentences), sometimes not so easy to catch (e.g., data points in Excel models).

Imo, problem sits within a broader issue where critical thinking skills are never developed in first place by AI natives (e.g., never known university or world of work without ChatGPT)

You can control the tools they can use within your company’s firewall. You cannot control how someone uses a tool if the tool is approved by your company.

AI comes with a disclaimer and it wants you double check what it says. Which is no different from consultants copy pasting stuff from different sources or googling it but not doing any due diligence. It is the future, so I’m not sure if you can do much at this point

You have to empower them to use tools to enhance productivity but you as the manager have to ensure the QA checks. Not much changes from our roles in doing this , just how we do it. For example, there’s still style guides that need to be used but getting granular to the point of sentence word count may be needed. For data , you have to ensure consultants are putting checks and balances in place for you to feel comfortable that their work is accurate and matches control totals. Now for the critical thinking piece , I personally think you have to call out when people are being intellectually lazy but at the same time, juniors are going to be reliant on the tools when they lack the experience.

Is your compensation and performance reviewed automatically on a regular/annual basis? I don’t get either of these unless I ask for it! Found out others in our company experienced the same as me. Lowball Salaries trending as a common pain point

I like my team and work life balance, during the pandemic was very beneficial to my wellbeing. However feel I owe it to myself now, to be earning what I’m worth in the market (I’m underpaid by a fair bit) especially with inflation costs

Hi all
I started out as a graphic designer. Worked for about 4yrs in different roles. Then i started a digital design role for 2 yrs and then made my transition into ux. i have been in a ux role for 5 years. But i want to steer my career towards something more creative. Like in 5-10 years I wouldn’t want to be a specialist or a ux director. I d like to be an art director or creative director. I love branding & marketing but also product. Would love something that allows me to do both?

Hey guys! I just received luckily enough two offer from two big companies: one as a Senior UX in SAP Concur and another one at Microsoft as a Designer II in Microsoft Teams. The role matters until a certain point to me. What does it matter is career and learning perspectives. Do you have any previous experience with one of the two companies? All feedback or comment is very much appreciated, thank you!

Hello,

Currently, in accenture. I have had very bad billable hours and not much achievement this fiscal year. I am worried of getting fired, so i applied for another job. Got offered may be 5% above my current pay with 5k bonus, but in lower level at Deloitte. I think working lower level will give me more opportunities to learn as i think i have lot to learn. I made decision based on my gut and accepted the offer. I have not talked to anyone on accenture side yet. What you think?

One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients). I’m aware there are personal aspects I need to work on like my mindset, patience etc etc, but I just get so frustrated with blatant stupidity.
