When the definitive history is written on the decline and fall of American society in the early 21st century, I think food delivery services will be mentioned extensively. I've always felt there was something pernicious about encouraging people to zone out on the couch and not even get up to schlep to the store to get food. And lending them the buck fifty-nine to do it just makes it exponentially worse. What a world.
Yup
I know it actually helps a ton of people and that the users like it, but I hate BNPL. It helps my financially irresponsible family members afford some things, but simultaneously eats up the little disposable cash flow they have. Doordash x Klarna is nasty work. You need food, fast and can't afford it. Yikes.
Yeah, game changes when you need to finance a mcchicken purchase
There hasn’t been any real innovation from Silicon Valley in years if not decades - this is just an equivalent of financial engineering exploiting the worst of human impulses.

Preying on those in financial dire straits, it’s essentially a glorified loan sharking business.

Haha…I think ordering out is already a treat if that’s the case. It’s really just laziness.
Yep. Its capitalism as its finest.
Not an issue with capitalism. Nobody is forcing someone to sell rat poison in a capitalist society
Explain how it isn’t the same as a credit card.
Misleading positioning. Klarna states that the split-in-four payments are interest-free…UNLESS you miss paying those, and then you accumulate interest that’s actually higher than most credit cards. So it’s actually way more manipulative and insidious, because you’re made to think about the “interest-free” part. Fits very well with “Silicon Valley reinventing X”, just adding a touch more evil
Honestly, if you think that all of these companies don’t have access to our data anyway it’s pretty naïve even this day and age I don’t mind this partnership actually I I think a lot of people are gonna benefit from this and it can only help Klarna’s IPO
Data is not the point - manipulating people with misleading positioning into accumulating debt is
Tbh I don’t worry about everyone else now because it’s a good way to always be upset. I just do the best I can and try to stay well above the status quo which is great because I don’t feel the effects of inflation as much as I used to. In capitalism, there’s winners and there’s losers, and I’d say you should do everything you can to be on the winning side.
Ironically I do the same job as him so you’re not far off. I also have a dedicated morning routine 😂
I have no word! Just unbelievable.

Taking out a loan is not the same as credit friend. Basic accounting
