There are two main problems tied to the current
ICE situation: 1) our immigration processes are not suited to keep pace of the demand both from an employer and an individual POV. Most people trying to come here would do so legally if given the choice. Also, our economy is propped up by people coming into this country. Our birth rate is declining and companies cannot fully source the talent they need within our borders. So the strategic thing to do would be to amend our immigration processes to align with our strategic needs. Why do you think they mass processed people on Ellis island as industry was taking off here?
2) blatant racism. I say this as someone who is surrounded by MAGA and conservative family and grew up in a very very red area. The rhetoric I hear boils down to hatred of anyone they deem as non-American. Despite the fact that our polish, Irish, German families came here for opportunity because they were starving on rural European farms. Or they were stuck in war torn towns with no hope for a future. A few generations later we seem to have forgotten what it’s like to be deemed scum of the earth in a foreign place when all that is wanted is to feed a family and have a future.
Yeah, because zip-tying toddlers is helping the immigration issue.

OP, you are so focused on the 37 arrests. We'll see how many end up getting successfully prosecuted. You may recall that people (not just citizens) in this country are presumed innocent until proven guilty. Leaving that aside, they went into nearly every unit of 130 unit apartment building to arrest those 37 people, destroying the property and leading to the theft of other belongings left unsecured for the vast majority of other residents who are not here illegally. By their own admission they only arrested 2 suspected TdA members which was presumably the pretext they were using for needing to do a military style raid in the first place. Seems like they could have just picked them up when they went outside and saved everyone else the traumatization. Also, there is no evidence yet that there were any warrants involved whatsoever. They have declined to comment on this matter and no-one was shown a warrant during the raid. If you think merely living in a place that might have some people who aren't legal immigrants makes all of that OK, then you are truly lacking in perspective. Niemöller's "first they came" always haunts my thoughts when governments act so violently against their people.
