McKinsey & Company Has any industry experienced candidates pivot to MBB Engagement Manager before? My roommate works at FAANG as Senior Analyst (Ops, 6+ YOE) and was approached by McKinsey & Company recruiter for an EM role. He hasn’t done consulting before. Would this be too much of a risk? His goal is to pivot to PE S&O eventually.

Same! 20+ years on consulting and agencies now. Clients can be like game of thrones with each other. Especially these days. I’m watching client directors and VP’s actively sabotage each other. It’s a hoot until they turn on the consultants…

Feel like this is a half baked viewpoint. Easy to critique from slides—harder to execute in the real world. Their talent isn’t subpar, they’re operating inside constraints consultants rarely own
Everything is pretend nothing is real
Agreed. Most corporate environments struggle with strategy formulation, data-driven analysis, and execution. Add AI to the mix and it becomes chaotic to say the least.
