Applied to one the other night, where the first question was “how many lions have you recently won”…. Which let’s be honest, means nothing
That’s terrible. There are so many people who are terrifically qualified but have never won Lions. I have judged a national awards contest and after three days you are so crazed and bleary-eyed judges are say. “Yeah. Whatever.”

Ogilvy new york just imported 2 more full time Brazilian cds….. you’re telling me they couldn’t just staff from this swamped pool?

Also why they don’t make funny ads anymore. There’s your answer. Stunts and awards ideas, sure. Funny? Na
Spoiler: it’s not just NYC, it’s everywhere.
Second this. I live in the LA area and it’s the same situation. Fucking terrible.
I with say though, I’ve noticed an uptick in interviews in September. It thinks it’s picking up some, but it’s still dogshit overall.
You can’t rely on LinkedIn. Check the individual agency websites. They don’t advertise all their open jobs—just the ones they have trouble filling.
Just saw BBH is hiring a CD team
@acd3 see on LinkedIn
Lost 6 of our best creatives including CDs and an ECD in the last month - most of the work now is Samsung which was bad enough when it was global, now it’s Samsung US and they’re worse. all the BBH history is being squashed by Publicis bs - and not just creatives either, most of the diverse or interesting people in account and strategy have been pushed or left
Leadership don’t lead they just get texts from the clients and then pass the message to creative teams
The market is in such a bad state that so many people’s titles are so inflated yet they are underpaid and it’s having a ripple effect.
So now an acd makes what a senior creative should make but that acd that’s being hired has even less experience than what the senior creative from 6 years ago needed to have to be in that role.
Yet recruiters will still use experience or titles whenever they need to to try to justify paying you less. Had a recruiter tell me I couldn’t ask for a certain salary for a senior title when someone I went to ad school with was hired as an acd there with effectively less experience than me.
I’m good friends with the drummer from Sum41 and he told me there’s lot of great opportunities in Canada.
Can you get me a referral into Sum41?
If the NY market looks like shit, I can promise you it looks the same (considering the number of agencies) or worse everywhere else. I’m in LA and it’s been absolutely terrible all year.
Definitely NOT Chicago
