Honestly I don't see how you can replace human beings in healthcare. It just seems so dangerous and I think that is my biggest fear. I keep seeing all the hype around AI and it makes me nervous. Humans have errors of course but AI is made by humans.
I understand your concerns. I don't personally think there's risk of healthcare personnel being replaced in terms of bedside care any time soon — if that ever comes to pass it'll be a very, very long time from now.
Meanwhile, what I'm seeing is that AI is being utilized to crunch data and numbers when it comes to chart review, audits, staffing, medical and scientific research, catching medical errors, and other applications,
I agree that AI is made by humans thus it can only be as good as humans can make it, but in healthcare applications there's definitely a place for it to be used to improve care.
According to people in the industry who I've been speaking with and interviewing for my podcast, AI has been used in healthcare and other industries for decades — it's only that the media recently caught on and created so much hype around chat bots like Chat GPT.
