Thinking about licensing an idea to a company, don't have money for patent, what are other protections and how to approach (context). For example in marriage prenup, "don't let someone sign when their emotional and forced". Need little bit of guidance apart from the common sense parts. I don't have any law experience so common sense in the context of law is not there 😄. Trying to license to social media, socializing, penpals companies, is there cheaper way to get specific patents? Global? etc..

Get a lawyer.

You should hire a lawyer licensed in the relevant jurisdiction. There are a handful of options for protecting intellectual property in the US, including patent, copyright, trademark, trade secret, and contract. This question has nothing to do with privacy law.

Have you published anything yet on this idea? And could you write out the utility for it? I am not a lawyer but have worked in IP for many years.

Check out an IP lawyers bowl. They can’t answer legal questions either but they will know more than privacy lawyers and can recommend next steps, which likely are just getting an actual IP lawyer.

How do you all deal with the guilt of leaving a comany/ team? I have been working at Microsoft for 1 year now, and seriously considering moving. I find the code base to be very legacy and I mostly work on obscure bugs that I spend so much time on, mostly due to navigating this large code base and not having much docs to refer to. Hence I find the job slightly unsatisfying, and that I could learn more elsewhere. However, I love the wlb, the team and company culture. The guilt stops my applying.

Is this legal? My spouses company just decided to change their comp structure for account managers. It was base + comm, now it’s commission only but nothing changed, OT commission is the same, didn’t get more points, just took away the base pay and said work harder basically. So now they have to worker harder to get $50k they were already making. (Not a decision based on employee performance, they’ve been crushing it. I think the company is just trying to save money they overspent else where)

Currently a tech litigation associate with lots of hearing, depo and trial experience (I’ve appeared on my own at hearings/depos) at a well respected firm. I have limited privacy experience despite being hired for that reason… Have my CIPM and CIPP/US /E and /C. Remote preferred; hubs is pilot with cool intl transfer opportunities. Money isn’t issue.
