Totally agree, a bad check out experience will often just dissuade me from buying anything at all. I think speed, multiple payment options, and a super clean UI make all the difference. Also, minimizing steps and offering guest checkout helps a lot. Nothing worse than having to create an account just to buy something
My main suggestion would be to have transparency about shipping costs at the outset. What usually makes me give up is when I can finally see the shipping cost and it's way out of line. That's the key to a lot of Amazon's success, I think, you don't have anxiety about what the shipping would be if you're a Prime customer.

As short and simple as possible. Can we also just bake shipping and handling costs into the price? If I see a shipping & handling fee I’m not buying. ✌️
You are so right about that. When I have a poor checkout experience there have been times I close the browser and dont' even finish the transaction because the page is not working properly and its beyond frustrating.
I know this is ecomm but i definitely defaulted to in person grocery store check out experiences first. Let me self checkout with no item limits please and let me avoid people in peace 😂😂😂😂 as for ecomm, free shipping, transparent shipping timelines and ideally minimal pop ups (damn you Shop Pay and Paypal windows)
