This feels like such a goofy problem to have but I’m genuinely struggling with it: a lot of my tasks throughout the week require waiting for my computer to load something. I have a hard time staying on task while waiting - usually it’s a long enough delay that I get distracted by something. Then it loads and I have to re-focus myself, which is hard. Do you have any advice on this?

I’d do push-ups or a small exercise while you’re waiting

Sometimes I do breathing exercises when I have to wait. There is less chance of me daydreaming or getting distracted as I am just focused on that + my eyes are closed. Also good to have a mindful moment in a stressful day

like

Omg yess I have this problem!! No idea how to solve it. Sometimes I just sit there and wait … like an idiot.

like

How long is the wait time - are we talking seconds, minutes, or hours? Maybe use the loading time to jot down a mini to-do list for the program - that should help you remain in the task mindset.

Not a goofy question. It’s easy to get sidetracked.

Hello All - I struggle with time management. I take medication but I have no idea whether a task will take 40 mins or 4 hours. Because of this, I over commit and under deliver. Also, having been on the receiving end of criticism, over time I have developed a perfectionist streak. I won't turn it in if it is good enough. How do you break out of this habit?

Any resources to help the brain structure tasks and make better estimates? Much appreciated, thanks!

One example of personal experience is my ongoing prep for case studies as I'm interviewing with a number of firms. Anyone else have a need to exercise daily? A lot of people judge me in a negative way and in reality it is because my ADHD brain needs it. 1) the consistency for schedule 2) exercise can help tone down the symptoms before I sit down for the work day 3) it is the only thing I can control to make it look like I am not a mess (disorganization, interrupting) - basically trying to stay in the game at work based on perception of “having it together”. Just wondering if anyone faces the challenges.
