Anyone else have a need to exercise daily? A lot of people judge me in a negative way and in reality it is because my ADHD brain needs it. 1) the consistency for schedule 2) exercise can help tone down the symptoms before I sit down for the work day 3) it is the only thing I can control to make it look like I am not a mess (disorganization, interrupting) - basically trying to stay in the game at work based on perception of “having it together”. Just wondering if anyone faces the challenges.

OMG this is so me. I cant go without a day of exercise. People tell me all the time that I need to take rest days and I just can't. It's like an obsession. I love the consistency. I love the challenges. Do what makes you happy and listen you are doing something that is HEALTHY for your body and MENTAL HEALTH. Go you and do you. BE YOU! Do not listen or care what other people say or how thy judge you! Keep up the great work!!

Yes! Doesn't have to be anything intense but I'm so much better at work (and life) when I at least get out for a 30 min walk in the morning.

like

Yes, 100% with you OP. Staying active is one of the main ways I’m able to manage my ADHD. There has been stretches of time where I don’t work out because I’m too busy with life/work or just super unmotivated. During these times, my attentiveness, focus, productivity, etc. goes down the toilet and I feel like crap, which feeds ends up with me less motivated than ever to get back in the gym. So the cycle is vicious.

It’s tough when other judge you, but at the end of the day, you’re doing what makes you feel better and what is important to you. It’s important to take care of yourself! Something I have remind myself

like

YES. I cannot skp a workout. It really does something for me. I feel like it helps me fight depression as well. But its part of my routine and I do better with a routine.

like

Because without it, I am a disaster in terms of organization and ability to concentrate.

Don't look at it negatively. I think you are dealing with it in the best way. Look at the positive side; you probably are healthier than if you did something else.

Nobody’s judging you and if so who cares?

I do exercise every day! I don't do it for others because it makes me feel good, which is how I want to feel! I don't care what other people think about me, even though perception plays a big role in the corporate world. But someone needs to change that, so I am trying to start a trend by not caring about perception in the corporate world.

Yes! Some have said mean things too. But then I realized this is how I cope and this works for me, I know myself better than they do so why should I listen to them? Let's focus on ourselves. We got this!

They judge you for exercising daily?

Your doing great. If things work fine by doing what you are currently doing right now, then there is no reason for you to stop. People will always have something mean to say and as long as it doesn't affect you personally, I'd say don't mind them. You know yourself better than anyone else.

I don’t get documentation time either, but all notes are to be completed the same day. I recently got diagnosed with ADHD. I'm 31 and found this only because b school and post mba consulting job was/is much more challenging than anything I did before. What I'm confused about is that even as a teenager I could read entire books overnight. But the last two years of high school I started selectively zoning out and the problem has become worse since. I just realised it now. My doctor has suggested treating depression (I was also unaware of this) with Wellbutrin first (contd)
