There is a space that is $10 a day and then I can also block private spaces for free at the library for a few hours; depends how long I need.

My room

Lol my room is great too but sometimes the distractions at home are an abundance

I just moved into a new apartment building and the entire first floor is a dedicated coworking space. Tired of paying rent for a home office

I just found out our Chamber has cowork space available; some are no check in and others are by appt but they are all free

Trying to get ahead of my caseload feels like trying to climb a hill made of loosely-packed pebbles. No matter how much I scrabble, I’m sliding closer and closer to the bottom.

How do you get caught up (or even ahead) when you’re always behind? Assume that all things that can be offloaded have been offloaded. I cannot take one more all nighter trying to get a motion drafted two days before the deadline because I couldn’t get to it earlier.

Hello Everyone,

I presently work in a serene and welcoming workplace where the atmosphere is extremely soothing, but I believe that given my current circumstances, my cost of living is too high and my pay seems to be very low given that I have quite a few additional responsibilities on my shoulders. Dumb questions but genuinely curious:

1) Let’s say you’re a recent undergrad candidate with no internships on your resume. What’s the deciding factor that you’re qualified for Advisory vs Tax vs Audit? Is it school, gpa, etc.?

2) Why can’t you switch from Tax to another SL without having to pull strings? I understand that there’s a difference in tax vs book experience but why does the Accounting field gatekeep other SLs? It’s not like we’re incapable of learning other areas.

Just over 6 years in B4 financial services tax in PNW area. Mostly doing compliance work pumping out K1s and returns. Just got an industry offer at 155k 15% bonus and 100k equity (4year vesting). Are private companies easier to work at than public companies in accounting? We have such an accelerated close deadline at the publicly traded company I’m at now, I really hate the inflexible tight deadlines and analysis seems to drag on forever after that. We also close AP/AR very early in the month yet that doesn’t stop payments/receipts from happening so we’re constantly adjusting our accruals until the end of month. Do private companies start their close after the month actually ends?
