Currently what I'm wearing (and it's a Thursday 😱)

Loafers with no show socks are the move. Anyone who says otherwise is antiquated.

I also wear a burgundy suit, teal suit, and a light blue suit time to time too. It’s 2022, let’s be more fashionable!

Haha I assume it’s fine but can’t be too careful (right??)

Better to stay on the formal side until you get the vibe.

oh haha never even crossed my mind that it’d be considered inappropriate. oops

It isn’t. I’m just overthinking 😂

I wear loafers with no show socks to work every time I go in. But I’m also a woman so don’t know if that changes things for you!

Loafers with no socks.

Depends on your partners. I've had two older male partners specifically complain to me (a female associate) about how men don't wear socks anymore😅

It was bad enough with one of the partners that guys would keep socks in their office in case he came in.

Pros:
- astounding financial benefits, great healthcare

Cons:

- too many cultists
- closed culture with extremely compartmentalized information, working on a small piece of the puzzle, with reduced ability to demonstrate true value, unless already high up.
- collaboration across teams is made unusually difficult and doesn’t seem encouraged.
- not remote friendly -- making everyone go back

Has anyone here participated in the year long remote year program? My company is fully remote in the US and is in general supportive of me going but concerned about local and international tax liability. Remote year doesn’t share tax advice and our HR team is small. Curious to hear from people at companies who have done it before and if there were any issues from a tax or payroll perspective. Trying to get the formal approval from my company before officially signing up, advice welcome!

I feel like I need a career coach because I am considering switching jobs but I don’t know where to go or where to start. I feel really overwhelmed and don’t know what I’m qualified for. And then always worried another job could be worse than the one I’m in now. Am I the only one like this? Where do you start? I can look at job postings and all but idk what I want to do long term. Especially with WFH I feel like there’s absolutely no networking or anyone to talk to outside of my team

I ask because I’ve let my credit spending get a bit lax since moving and adopting a puppy recently, so I haven’t been paying them off in full every month like I used to (though still well above the minimum payment, and keeping utilization at 30% or under). It got me thinking about how many people adhere to this advice.

Struggling to get work at a free market firm after lateraling. I was very well liked at my prior firm and had high hours so really struggling to understand why folks don’t seem to want to come back to me with more work. For those at free market firms, how frequently do you have to ask for work? How do you typically ask? Just send partners emails asking if they have any deals for you? Thanks y’all.

I actually love it. I was a paralegal in BL during law school. Maybe I am use to the environment? What am I missing? Help me remove the rose colored glasses. The cases are interesting, pay is fantastic, offices are beautiful, and the research resources are a big reason why I never want to leave.
