Hi All!
I am currently a Senior Software Engineer(Backend) with 4 YOE. My current CTC is 21LPA (All Fixed) with additional Yearly bonus. I got a call from Google (Pune/Bangalore/Remote) for Software Engineer - Backend. I have the following doubts but any insights are welcome -
1. Does the lower designation offered make any difference?
2. Kinda ambiguous, but what kind of hike or ballpark pay can I expect?
3. Any similar interviews experiences or focus areas I should prepare for?
Hello fishes,
Last Monday (16 May), I had sent an email to Mindtree recruiter regarding the other offer I have and to revise my salary structure.
I haven't got any response from them yet. My joining date in Mindtree is 23rd May, and 30th May in another organization.
I'm not sure what I should do next?
P.S other offer is from Citiustech Healthcare Technologies .

The unpredictable hours and fire drills that destroy your weekend/vacation/wedding day with no notice. Big Law is fine for a short period of time and unbearable for too long.
Billable hours and how you have to just keep working and working even if there’s not much to do. I love making processes more efficient so I can work smarter, not harder. Other than that, I didn’t care. All the power to you though! My husband is the same way lol. I think you need to truly love it to work the hours.
As a junior, the work isn’t all that interesting. Research resources? I do better research on my own than the firm’s research team. I wish I had time to do 100% of it myself. The billable hour model is so inefficient it borders on being unethical. Except, I think the clients are happy to pay for the inefficiency so they can live in the fantasy that they are in the right and all of our wheel spinning will amount to something.
I was at least expecting more interesting work when I decided on big law instead of government or non-profit work. Pretty much the only thing big law has going for it is the money.

I love the same things you do and I am years in.
What I absolutely hate is the understaffing and the inevitable avalanche of ugly emails you get from clients when their ridiculous expectations on timing are not met. Some of the politics are frustrating as well. And lastly, that underperforming people are allowed to linger just makes me angry.
I basically agree but look hours are long and it’s stressful
