I feel this so much. Social media can end up consuming more energy than the reporting itself. I try batching posts and setting strict time limits. Has anyone actually found balance?
I can’t say we’ve found the perfect balance, but we do have leadership on our side in terms of working towards it. That can be a huge determining factor.
Social media is a necessary evil everywhere today. I appreciate that we need to use it, but it's nice when we can focus efforts elsewhere. Maybe try to discuss with the news director for more of a balanced and multifaceted approach instead of Instagram 24/7.
I completely get this. I think social media has become a second job piled onto journalism. I would rather prioritise strong reporting than feeding an algorithm. A balanced plan is possible, but it always feels like performing.
