No is a full and complete sentence
Or if you want to get fancy: "No, thank you."

Tell them based on your experience and the current market, you are seeking a manager role. Senior role with 7 years in PA is complete bs.
Why do you want to work somewhere that would do this? Seems like a red flag and you haven’t even started yet..
Just send back the Michael Jordan laughing gif.
Happen to me once. I simple said thank you for their time but we both were looking for different things. Left 5 minutes in.
I'll be honest, it wasn't a power move. I was interviewing during busy season and just had a lot to do.
Titles don’t really matter.
Current title at a private company is manager, but others with similar pay & responsibilities are EVP/SVP.
Disagree with SM completely. Title is hugely important. OP to your point, future prospective employers likely would view this as a lateral move. It’d look especially bad if you took this role and then stayed at that senior level for several years. I say ask for manager title, or look elsewhere.
I am confused about this at this moment too. I have five years years in public accounting and will be Promoted to manager soon. However I took a senior position at my current company since I do not have much experiences on this aspect of accounting. I’m acting manager and is paid at manager. I’m enjoying my job but I do have doubt about postion too. Any advice on this? Thanks!
I know some companies title differently than PA - I would look at pay and what everyone else is the senior role looks like. I know someone who went from manager at KPMG to senior and his pay went significantly up
No it was in a large tax department of a large multi National Corp. He wasn’t a third year manager / senior manager promote or anything. They have a very formal department - people do rotations in different areas of tax within the group etc. I’m not saying the company you’re interviewing with is the same way but just cautioning you to look at the whole picture instead of just title. I have been asked to interview for manager instead of sr manager.. but then we have to talk about if my salary requirements fit inside the pay band and sometimes they do and sometimes not
Did you interview for a tax position, or are you pivoting to a different industry?
Tax. I'd understand a pivot
No. Full stop.
I feel like this trick would work for entry levels idk why they would do this for more senior roles lmao
Any idea why they did this? I can hardly imagine a scenario in which this place is worth your time, after this kind of thing.
Yeah, this one stinks. I’m sorry OP. It’s embarrassing for them that they enjoy wasting candidates’ time.
Everyone here is assuming you can do manager work....years of experience arent really that meaningful all the time....I'm not saying you are one of them but there are plenty of career seniors out there...
You're right, this is important to consider. Doesn't apply here, but I realize I'm not an expert in everything and it would be a reach for some roles.
