To NYC real estate owners- are you worried about the prospect of Mamdani becoming the mayor? I mean in terms of your property owned. What’s the worst case scenario for non rent stabilized buildings/apartments? Higher property taxes? Is the a real risk of rents decreasing?

Anyone else note this area is like the Wild West? Clients do contracts in-house with non-lawyers and then we have to fix it. Goods have limited objective quality criteria and then they fight?

So I am about to move to D.C this fall for work. I'm really interested in Real Estate and renting places out but don't know where to start. Should I look into getting a license or just putting down money on a place to own and then renting it out? What makes the most money? How long would it take to see income?
