Less likely to return to the firm you're leaving. I'd have a frank conversation on where you are in the pipeline.
Also, is their principal a partner equivalent or a director equivalent?
If it’s a matter of just one year and you like the firm, don’t leave. There is a lot of value in institutional knowledge and starting from scratch in another place in such senior role would be very hard.
Understand where you and in the pipeline and what gaps you have and work on those.
Good luck!
Partner equivalent. I’ll be started off with an existing book of business with annual growth targets.
Do you think I’ll be able join them as a Partner and in a few years of proving myself, work my way back up to a different Big-4? Has anyone in your experience pulled this off?
I’ve watched colleagues position people with little pipeline and minimal performance numbers ahead of others who are delivering at 3 and 4x, ahead in the promotion path. It has never made sense to me why they excuse marginal performance over year in and year out performance. It has caused these performers to leave and only a few have made the U-turn and eventually returned as direct entry partners.
To swim back up to the Big4 or leading independent consulting firm as a Partner? (I’m 37 now, if that matters)
