Today I ate too much friend food and I’m getting some serious indigestion. I’m not that old but I’m not that young either… I’m like having a hard time at work but just grinding my teeth and getting through the day. Anyone else just feel like the day is too long today???

We've had some seriously slow days lately, so I totally can relate. I'd imagine, as the manager, you can maybe use some time to research new loyalty program rewards or organize a team back of house cleaning/reorganization? That's what ours does during our unusually slow shifts. As for the fried food... my body can't handle that stuff either. Tums to the rescue!

Oooh everyone hates those cleaning / reorganizing days… but maybe is a way to pass the slow hours….

I had an appointment this morning so I ended up taking the whole day off. My day has been pretty chill, but I have had a lot of days that sound like yours. The ones where you can't stop yourself from watching the clock and it just goes so painfully slow.

Lucky! Day off sounds like just the cure I need. lol.

Today is a very long day, lol. I'm not suffering from indegestion but I do have a headache. Pepto-Bismol usually helps me when I have too much fried food, maybe try that?

Yeah definitely tums or pepto! Glad the day ended though - was quite the painful day.

I have been working remotely since covid getting nothing but positive reviews. My company is not remote friendly and is now telling me I have to return to the office or I lose my job. I just found out a co-worker had a remote position created for them, without a job posting, without an interview and without the experience required (normally a license or certification would be mandatory). I understand life isn’t fair but is there an ethical problem with this?

So I'm fairly new to the restaurant business; only in like 4 years (only two concepts). Both have been pure chaos that causes so much stress and anxiety. Is this industry wide or am I just unlucky with the 2 concepts I've experienced so far?

I work as an AGM in a busy restaurant. Been working there for just over a year, and haven't had a single raise. I now only make 0.50 cents more than even the lowest paid shift lead but I am doing a lot more work. I'm no longer satisfied with these conditions. Should I try to negotiate a raise or look for other opportunities?

If I should negotiate, any tips?

Check the overtime laws for your state!!

I just recently worked 58.6 hours in a week, weekly pay, nice OT profit right? Depends on where you live.

In Iowa, there is no Overtime pay mandate, the overtime pay is at the discretion of the business. I received 58.6 hours of base pay for the week.

If the company makes less than $1 million per year or does not engage in intercontinental sales, the company is not required to pay the overtime rate of time and a half, just your base rate.
