Today is my Friday, and it made me think about years ago having Friday being the last day before the weekend. It normally varied due to alternating working weekends, and by seniority. It also made the people who were off tomorrow a bit lazy work wise (me included. Did you ever have alternating Fridays and did you slack off on the last day before you time off?

Partners - Do you ever take vacations?

I have been at my current firm for about 1.5 years, and in that entire time the partner in my group hasn't been out of the office a single time. Is that normal? I can't tell if it's standard for big law partners to not take time off, if the dynamics for my group may be different (only 1 partner in the entire group), or it the partner I work with is just a masochist.

How would you feel going on vacation with friends who want to bring their kid along too?

I had an interview the week before Christmas and New Years. I know there is usually a holiday slump - when should I reach out about an update? It will be 3 weeks tomorrow.
