We are in the process of hiring a nanny to come in from 8am-5pm three days a week while I WFH. What is an appropriate number of paid sick and vacation days we should offer?

Getting lots of auto replies that people are OOO yesterday and today. Is that like a bonus holiday schedule?

What steps next? Working at a faang company, & there’s signs of layoffs on the horizon/potential eradication of our entire 10 person team. 6 members of my team have scheduled scattered days of vacation in the upcoming months and all signs point to them interviewing, my boss included. I’m feeling lost/anxious because I just joined few months ago. Leadership aren’t announcing decisions til end of year or early 2023.

Would you ever leave government for the private sector? I’m in a position where I may be offered a job that pays much more and offers unlimited time off, but I’d be giving up the stability of a government job and the pension.
