The students, getting to do different things each day, the successes coming from surprising places.
Summer, pay day, some students learning
I work with Alternative HS kids. Getting them across the finish line is an awesome feeling. Had two dropouts with “remaining eligibility” return this month because they learned the hard way just how valuable a diploma is. And ours is the most celebratory graduation you can ever imagine. Those days make it all worth while.
1. Introducing students to literature.
2. Giving students a chance to show their knowledge in a creative way.
3. The five or six kids in every class who actually care.
The work is always interesting and the days fly by. I really do believe we make a difference - and love that we can reach out and lift up a student who needs to see their value in the world.
1. The students. 2. Summers off (even though I still spend so much of mine prepping for the year ahead). 3. My coworkers. I lucked out so hard here. I genuinely like everyone I interact with at work, and that's a huge difference compared to my last school.
My students, summer break, Christmas break
1) Working with children-they are the best kind of people :)
2) Getting creative-it’s fun to try that thing you’d wish you could spend time on when you were a student and
3) Meaningful work-some jobs you can’t see impact but here you definitely can! You’re literally teaching
As a Psych teacher I love just teaching the subject. My GE students like to learn in my 101 class. I do a killer Serial killer project that they love to do. My AP class loves my rigor and what I try to do to have fun. I also teach Civics and being able to try and get them interested in why they should be interested in our Government and voting is a big goal.
Aw, this is cute. For me I would have to say I do love my students, even the difficult ones, I love my teaching team, and I have a surprisingly great admin.
