Blue Barn NYC (not overly expensive but amazing food and experience of you're able to get in), Manhatta, Musaafer (opened recently and also incredible), Crown Shy. All really great spots IMO.
Le Bernadin
This looks amazing, ty!
Unless you’re .large trust fund money no budget is unlimited. Ok with spending 2-3k on a meal for 2 people?
D the top end of Japanese is Masa (and possibly still the most expensive and best Japanese one). I found it to be exceptional yet unremarkable- unless you want bragging rights I wouldn’t go there.
Yeah you can’t say unlimited budget in NY lol
Also NY is a reservation city - check where you can actually get in then ask for recs. The places people are going to give you are impossible to actually get in to
I’m not going till April.
Congrats on the wedding! Great choice and location for the hotel.
1) Daniel - Michelin star
2) The Chef’s Table (Michelin star, inside a grocery store)
3) Peak Restaurant - Amazing views on 100th floor (Manhatta as an alternative).
4) The Pavillion
5) Carbone or Via Carlotta - if you want a trendy Italian spot
6) Per Se- Michelin
7) La Tete D’or - steakhouse (same owner as Daniel Restaurant)
And Golden Diner for amazing pancakes with 2-3 hr wait. You can put your name down early.
Daniel is outstanding!
Lillie's Victorian, Times Square. It is decorated for the holidays and the food and drinks are phenomenal. I highly recommend reservations which you can make on their site.
Pro
lol, yes I have an opinion as apparently the only New Yorker on this thread who has left midtown.
Also “that thing”? wtf is wrong with you, you took a chat about restaurants and turned it disgustingly negative, my opinion on your bad restaurant suggestions has nothing to do with how I am to work with
We’ve been to Per Se a few times! (Ask for a tour) Le Bernadin is on my wish list.
Highly recommend The Modern, one of the best tasting menus and all round dining experiences I’ve had.
Serendipity III has been in multiple movies and they're known for their desserts but they have everything. Make a reservation NOW or as soon as you can for the time frame you're going to be there. If you don't have a reservation, there's a 4 hour wait (I know from experience).
Pro
Yeah, no one over the age of 7 goes to Serendipity
The White Castle at 539 8th Ave
Dorsia
I kinda feel like per se is Dorsia - I’ve only heard folks disappointed there. Kinda hard to exceed expectations when they’re so high
Speaking of being so high, I hear any of the classic Italian places, in that condition, is a fun time
Speaking of classics, One of by Land Two if by Sea is a classic for a reason - beef Wellington in Aaron burr’s horse stables is always a nice time
No one has mentioned it but Gramercy Tavern, the legend, is always cozy and on point
Really the standards and competition in NY are so good that you can easily have an incredible meal free of all the hoopla just by walking around and picking a little place that looks interesting. Pick a neighborhood you haven’t been to and explore. Outside of Times Square - there are still crappy tourist traps there
