Transitioning Service Member, struggling to figure out my next career path point. Im putting in job applications left and right and not making much progress at all, minus one application that was ultimately denied. Does anyone have any pointers or tips for how to progress in the job market and be successful landing a career? Open to all tips.

do you want to keep doing security when you get out or are you trying to change careers? i did skillbridge and went from radio maintenance to IT. if you want to stay security, or at least have a job when you get out until you can get a degree in something else, i hear security folks at data centers make a decent living with good working conditions.

Not a good job market right now. I would stay in if that’s an option.

I'll be staying as a reservist but full active duty is not really an option anymore.

I would try to get into as many transition programs as possible. They give you a good in like skill bridge. I don’t know all of them but my husband found a bunch he wished he had taken advantage of after he left. A lot of these you can only do if you are still in so do some research asap!

Thank you i will certainly look into those!

Have you completed at least a bachelor’s degree?

Idk about other states, but if you happen to be in TX, take advantage of your Hazlewood money and get more schooling if you want

IT bro, plug into Coursera.org I just got sponsored by DoD Career Development (security architect/ management) best thing I've ever done in my life. We go to college for our first job we go to Coursera.org for certificates for the second job. It's a process for 2 retirements.

I started my own LLc as a knowledge sharing tool so I didn't enter IT as an entry-level 40 yr old. Think towards the future because everything is powered by AI Automation. It's the biggest disruption of this life time. If you can't beat 'em - join 'em. A management spor is the only thing AI can't take over. It involves feelings decision-making, but everything else .......

Need advice—torn btwn Booth and Sloan.

Already work in mgmt. consulting but looking to do either consulting or ibanking post-MBA (have only been at company for 1 year so not sponsored and may or may not return to my company).

Have $60K scholarship at Booth, nothing at Sloan. However, I already went to UChicago undergrad and live in Boston so have an established network here. However, concerned about lack of soft skills/leadership development, focus on academics, nerdy culture at Sloan.
