I was told to wear a suit on client site, my client wears sparkly uggs...take that as you will
Tux Monday through Thurs, jeans Fri tho
Some clients are jeans every day, some are suits every day, most are somewhere in between on the business casual spectrum-sometimes but not always allowing/expecting jeans on Fridays.
And some expect you on site every day no matter what, some are 100% remote, some have regular built in telework days, and some expect you on site unless you need situational telework (weather, sickness, cable guy etc.)
Just ask your project lead and they should be able to tell you what your situation is
I wear a blazer when on client site. No jeans at client site. Dress to match your client or ask your manager about dress for clarity
Suit when on site, and it depends on the client how often you’re on site
Depends on agency. I’ve worked with many government clients in the jeans and whatever shirt crowd.
Never worn a suit once. Only our associate director wears one
A lot of my peers and partners wear suits to client sites. Why do you think they are “doing it wrong”?
I feel like it depends. I work on client site mon-Thursday and wear business casual. Usually dress pants, a nice top, and loafers or flats. I’ve yet to wear a blazer
If you’re at ey usually business professional
Got it. Thanks all! I haven’t started yet and am not staffed yet so I don’t know if it’s intel or what. Sounds like I don’t need to buy super high end suits but I’ll see when I start.
Every project is different. Every client is different. Always error on the side of more. Wear a suit and be told to dress more relaxed rather than the opposite. Good luck.
Suit first day and gauge how the client dresses - ask teammates first for what is acceptable some managers prefer you dress a certain way
Kike others have said - client dependent. My current org has people dressing across the spectrum. Some in suits some wayyyyy more laid back. But almost all of leadership on client side is in slacks and nice shirts with blazers.
Current agency I’m staffed at is all over the place. Business casual if client facing unless senior manager or above (blazers, suits) while the tech folk wear T-shirt’s, jeans , and hoodies
I have worked mostly DoD and if you are on client site it's a suit or the upper end of business casual. I've almost never gotten to wear jeans with a DoD client site unless I'm at a Booz office. FEMA is notorious for being a casually dressed client (I've seen cargo pants pass for work clothes). As others have said though, depends on your client and how often you'll be client site. I would recommend always owning 3 suits or equivalent attire (e.g. a business dress + blazer for women). If you determine you'll be full time client site you may have to plus up.
