Depends on your price point. You can’t go wrong with The Fort as a high average price point. The Brickyard if you’re willing to spend the coin and want to play a few holes inside the racetrack. Those are my two recommendations in and around the city. If you wanna travel to the northern burbs you’ll have other options.
French lick is a little bit of a hike but enjoyed it
Unfortunately too far for my one day, but will definitely make the journey back out for that at another time. Thank you!
If wanting to stay on the south side/ west side of Indy / near airport decent public courses are west chase, eagle creek, smock , and then brickyard would be more expensive but heard it’s nice. North side of Indy would be the fort , bear slide, purgatory, and I enjoy river Glenn. All listed are different price points, but all good golf IMO. Depends on what you’re wanting to spend
Where are you traveling to/from? I only ask as there are options outside of Indy that might be worth stopping by on your way through the state.
Strictly in Indy, as recommended above go with The Fort. The Brickyard is on my list. Purgatory in Noblesville gets rave reviews.
If you’re going from Chicago and continuing through Indy you have options along I-65. Sandy Pines in DeMotte. Stop in West Lafayette, both of Purdue’s courses are Pete Dye courses with Kampen being the harder of the two. Coyote Crossing in West Lafayette is also a great option.
Brickyard is 20 minutes from the Airport, near downtown. Fort is on the east side, probably a 35 minute ride to the airport on the highway. Heartland Crossing is near the airport and used to be a pretty cool, fun course but i’ve heart it’s a bit in disrepair, in Mooresville about 20 minutes front the airport.
