Unpopular opinion: performing Account Reconciliations take the same amount of skill level as key report testing.

A monkey could do an account reconciliation but it does take initiative to follow-up and clear reconciling items and to know if the transactions that did hit the account or if any are missing.

like

But you would have to pay the monkey overtime, assuming the monkey isn't CPA Eligible, and the firms don't want to that.

If the key report test is purely accept/reject sure, actually having the technical competency to figure it out in an erp, not even in the same league let alone sport as account recs.

My clients act like performing a bank rec is rocket surgery...

like

Years ago I called a client before fieldwork to make sure they were going to be ready for us. Client said yes. I said bank recs are done? She said “pretty much. I just have to do the reconciling items”. I was like aren’t the reconciling items the essence of the bank rec?

Seems like a reasonable opinion to me. Wouldn’t have thought that would be unpopular.

Deloitte USI is offering me 15LPA fixed and 1lack joining bonus and HCL offering me 23LPA fixed. I've tried to negotiate with deloitte but they are not ready to negotiate and asking me to join on the same CTC which was initially provided. I'm confused to select the company. It would be really helpful if anyone could share their views. Thanks.

Deloitte experienced hires, who all received written offers and in process of visa/ onboarding, have you heard back anything about hiring freeze? Or recruiter asked you to delay joining date?

My visa got submitted couple of days back and waiting for decision. When I reached out to recruiter to give her an update and mentioned once there’s decision will discuss on the start date before putting my 2 weeks, she mentioned “Yes, we should talk before you put notice” - Am I overthinking? In house or M&A/Real Estate Transactional are likely the end goal but want to get the litigation out of me first.

New auditor here, I see most auditors get booked for 10- 12 hours on engagements during busy season. But heard everyone’s working 65 hours to 100 hours a week during that time. Does that mean almost everyone is eating their hours in big four and midsize firms ? If you’re assigned for 12 hours daily, Monday to Friday, but actually working 15 hours and weekends, do you book 12 hours Monday to Friday ? Or the actual hours you worked including weekends ?
