I never worked for him. But I know he’s an avid mountain biker and on his YT channel he comes across a genuinely awesome guy.

Which podcasts. I've listened to a ton with people who came up at CPB during their best years.
He never sounded sociopathic. Just demanding. A bit of a bottleneck at times. But everyone I've heard talk about it seems to have fond memories.

Which podcasts?
Just ego, like anyone who kills it in any field and has thousands of people swooning for them.
Why not? Should Muhammad Ali have called himself the “Humblest”? Being the best and proud of it is ok in my book.
I used to work there as a junior years back. I didn't get a lot of face time with him, but most people had a story about him being rude or abrasive. He did once say to me "I'm not your friend" when I tried to make small talk in the elevator, but he was smiling when he said it.

Yep. Seems kind of sadistic to me. Casual cruelty.

Worked for him. I don’t think so.
Alluded. Eluded would mean to escape or evade.
🙄
I’ve heard he’d call all agencies meetings, just to tell everyone they’re all replaceable.
And in the articles about him, he takes credit. Not all the people working their butts off.
what’re the stories you’ve heard?
I’m interested now too...

Read this. And also, what podcasts?

The last part of the article pretty much confirmed what I heard. Same attitude just different scenario.
Don’t mean to belittle his success whatsoever. Still one of the most widely recognized creatives in the world.
Hopefully his time away was for the best - for everyone.
Never worked with him, but probably just Steve Jobs syndrome — demanding excellence at all costs. And it worked. I heard Chuck Porter speak and he joked that you could come to CPB for a year and coast the rest of your career. That used to be true in this industry.
@SVP — Don’t know enough about Jobs. I’ll take your word on it.
