Wanted to highlight Prudential Financial’s hiring practices. They rescinded my offer once I attempted to negotiate the salary. The official reason given was that I didn’t “sound excited enough”.
They then admittedly gave the offer to someone who was less qualified. There were other red flags throughout the job offer process that the HR team should overall be ashamed of.

Thanks for the tip. Someone recommended to leverage the unlimited PTO to ask for more. Is the negotiation better received with an explanation or is it better to keep it generic? Since the salary is what I requested, I was going to wiggle the bonus a little more with the reason being due to current environment the extra bonus would help adjustment blah blah. I just feel like calling out something like unlimited PTO and using that to ask for money might come off the wrong way. I’ve never negotiated so I’m not sure what’s the best way

I’m in tech consulting, a major us city, and I’m < 100 with 3yoe. If I were you I would counter for more. I mean “I” wouldn’t counter for more because I’m a horrible negotiator and have a hard time asking for things. Also apparently I’m low performer because it seems like everyone is making more than me. But you, you should go for it. This is a business where you have to be assertive and a go getter. The worse they can say is no.
