McKinsey & Company I am an EM at a boutique firm specializing in strategy for B2B tech cos (e.g. Microsoft, aws). I have 4 years consulting exp (3 years pre MBA, 1 year post) with TC of 220K.
I am considering applying for McK as I am currently capped on progression at my firm for a while. Any insight if it would be worth entering the Associate position or at this point I'm too deep into consulting to justify stepping back down

👆🏼Agreed. As BDO1 said, TAS is the largest group outside of Audit and Tax ---- IT advisory or forensics is not existent. BIG4 is the way to go.
Advisory/consulting is a tiny practice at BDO and really most nationals/regionals, compared to B4. I think the largest group we have is TAS and even that's fairly small. I don't know if we even have IT advisory - mostly IS assurance
If you're looking to go Advisory, go B4. Pay will be better and opportunities will be better.
Thanks. Currently working at B4's advisory but was informed that BDO is expanding their consulting arm.
They are trying to expand consulting and advisory but the economy, at least in my market, is making it somewhat difficult.
Yes, it is expanding. All mid market firms are trying and BDO has worked to make a major push recently by acquiring firms with more established advisory practices
Not a big group at BDO but the risk advisory group is growing and has good leadership
