Have nothing positive to say about this program, we have had problems all year, they are always saying we are working on it.

like

Yeah, the web program isn't very helpful for kids either

I do not have Envision, however do work with Saavas and CMP3. What I have found is it is not very user friendly. It requires a lot of navigation and is not intuitive. I refuse to assign work on Saavas as it is also not easy to do, grade, etc.

I love the CMP3 curriculum though, and Envision seems pretty solid too especially for thinking and learning in a non rote format.

No matter what! Get books in the students hands.

Is Savvas a Pearson product?

we have it.. an awful program for middle schools

I will say envision was introduced 4 years ago at my district! And yes problems where there! Had teachers wanting to just do their own thing and we pushed through and kids seem to be getting it! I had to help them out, create power points to show them the steps needed! I know in Missouri Pearson/SAVVAS is who writes out state tests! Previous to us getting the curriculum kids struggled with the word problems and what to do!

I know it’s hard to say be patient, it will come!

Additional Posts in Math Educators

I found using GoFormative’s free version to be very helpful in teaching new topics to my students. I embed videos I make demonstrating how to complete a question, next I ask them to complete an example showing work, and then the next question they type their answer so it automatically alerts them to see if they answered correctly. It can be used live in a meet and on an independent virtual day. In my google meets, I’m able to give feedback on any question they have trouble with in real time.

My district has finally gone 1-to-1. Is there a good app or website that I could use to have students submit answers anonymously while going over problems in class? I did this last week using Kahoot to go over a state testing review packet. It was great because I could see how many got the right answer and move on if no one missed the question. However, I would like to do it without having to create something in advance. I hope this doesn't sound confusing.

I finally was able to convince my principal that we need a consistent math intervention at the MS level (grades 5-8). (Right now, we are just "doing our own thing," which isn't helping students progress much.) Does anyone have any suggestions? It would be beneficial to have some sort of progress monitoring tool as part of the program, if possible. Our classes run roughly 55 minutes (which is too long for an intervention, in my humble opinion).

Thanks for any advice.

What would u do in this "hypothetical" scenario.
1. Student gets 95 percentile on standardized tests in 1st grade.
2. 2nd gr teacher, capable and flexible but a little old school.
3. Parent, from foreign country, wants us to teach 2 years ahead of where student is at in math and reading in case they have to return to other country.
4. District's old standard for acceleration is at the 97th+ percentile and other students are much more"advanced".
5. Parent wants detailed steps for teacher's plan

Anyone have some successful math performance task ideas to share? I need a few more creative ideas for my Algebra 1 Curriculum.

Does anyone know a great 7th grade math workbook? Our school system does not buy the students books. I’ve taught 6th grade math for 20 years and have made all my notes, worksheets and and examples, but I’ve been assigned a seventh grade math class and don’t have enough time to get all of that ready. I feel like I’ve spent so much money on Amazon and TPT but it never ends up being what I want. It’s usually too easy. I would be grateful for any ideas, suggestions or actual workbooks names. Thanks.
