We have our holiday dinner next week and I'm so excited. Does your company have any holiday parties?

We did one year and it was super fun! Full catered at one of the bosses houses.

No plans this for one though. Which is a bummer.

What does your work do?

We have 3 parties. My team is having a small dinner. My company is having an end of year party, and my business unit is having a new years brunch.z

We have a holiday party every year but I don't get the hype around it. It's like sort of fun but always pretty awkward to meet everyone's spouses and have them meet mine, and just navigate coworker relationships in a party situation. Maybe i'm uptight but I always feel a little uncomfortable and ready to go home haha

We always have a holiday party that's not super elaborate but it's pretty nice. There's always a buffet and a bar. I'm told there used to be some real gossip that came out of the party, but in the years I've gone it has seemed fairly sedate. It's fun to get to have conversations with people I really just know by nodding in the hallway.

Ours used to be amazing. I started on graveyards, and the CEO and lots of big wigs came in to serve it to our shift at 3 am. It would have prime rib, ham, turkey, lots of sides, salads, and so many kinds of desert. You could have as much as you wanted. They did all 3 shifts.

27 years later, they hand you a boxed dinner with a choice of turkey, pork loin, or a vegan squash dish. Things keep getting cheaper and cheaper.

That sounds fun! We’re having a christmas lunch instead—low-key but still festive. It’s a nice chance to connect and enjoy some good food!

My name is Mokhtar Faraji, I live in Iran, and my job is social services and caring for the elderly and sick. I want you to help me. I want an employer so that I can come to America and work there. Thank you very much.

We have a holiday party every year and it is something that I really look forward to every year. I think most of my coworkers really look forward to it as well. We do a white elephant gift exchange but everyone brings a gift for that years theme and its a lot of fun.

We don’t do it anymore. I don’t miss it! I usually don’t go anyways!

I'm looking to find a job like the Forward Deployed Engineer role Palantir Technologies in the UK.

I have become hooked on finding a job that involves solving the kinds of problems they presented during their interviews. Although I got to the final round my performance anxiety got the better of me (I think I wanted the job a bit too much...). I will reapply after working in a similar company.

Is it "deep tech" / "data science" or "smart enterprise" that they're doing? Any advice welcome.

I feel left out in my firm. How do I make 'friends' with my colleagues? I've been here for a year. I am naturally not a very out going person, was never 'cool' and I struggle to speak in group situations / make engaging conversation with higher ups. It is an important trait to have in this job and I just don't know how to do this. It makes me very upset - I even sought therapy but wasn't useful. I can't spend 14 hours each day feeling like this:(

For any of you real estate investors, what tools or sources did you learn from when getting started. Can’t find a mentor currently so want to find some highly recommended books or videos. If focused on the tri-state area (NY, NJ, Long Island mainly) that would be even better. My hope is to buy and rent out a apartment while also owning a house and house hacking that by renting part of it out. Trying to understand all the steps, traps, and how to find if it’s a good investment.

Ex healthcare workers in Tech/Sales Engineering/ Healthcare consulting;
I have my masters in nursing/FNP (1 yr) making <K70 (Indiana) due to low patient census in my role. No desire for a different FNP job nor to return to bedside nursing (RN 5 yrs). I have heard of some individuals with remote positions making >K100 with little to no experience in tech or consulting after doing a boot camp or cert?

So I had been working as medical interpreter up to the early part of this year. Today, during an interview, the Director with whom I was interviewing genuinely urged me to consider pursuing a career as a PA or even attempt to go to medical school. I had considered it in passing before but today was about the third or fourth time that someone had earnestly nudged me in that direction. Has anyone here made such a career pivot before? I love working in healthcare, there’s nothing like it.

Has anyone left healthcare and is now really happy? I’m an MSN, RN with 12 years hospital experience. I’m burned out and tired of making crap pay. I have an opportunity outside of healthcare that would pay more and challenge me in new ways that I haven’t experienced before. It’s a total shift that would really heal my work-life balance, job satisfaction and budget. My only fear is that I would not be using the license and degree that I worked so hard for. I would appreciate any input!!!!
