Hi fellow fishies!
Can someone please explain what is “SUPPLEMENTARY allowance” in my payslip??? It is the highest in my entire payslip, more than basic salary. Basic is lets say ₹7 lac annually and supplementary bonus is ₹7 lac 40 thousand.
Can someone please explain why this exists in my paylslip, is it good or bad from tax perspective and shall I ask my HR to decrease it???

Regardless of the politics it has to get worse before it could get better (if it would even be successful is not my point). Just practically - manufacturing primarily relies on importing so it takes time for the US to build factories and pivot and adjust. Again, I’m not saying I’m pro or against or that I think it would or wouldn’t work. I’m purely speaking facts.
I’m director doing transformation work internally for a massive manufacturing company and the only way he’s able to get this done is because he already has 2 factories here. So he’s expanding his capabilities and if he times this right, he can make this a good thing for him. But there’s going to be a downturn first. They have billions stuck in port with massive tariffs, aren’t going to just forward that to clients who already bought the product. Are stuck with customs etc as they adjust to the new rules and regulations (lots of paperwork and bottlenecks). So the company is really having a rough time as it gets everything in place.
Agreed but I’m just speaking about the manufacturing. I’m terrified for America.

C1 - it’s a punishment for BRICS. Oh China is in. BRICS too. Sure are but we still have a lot of dependency on a China and we can’t afford to do 50% there as China is already hurting economically and financially due to their own policies they are barely sustainable.
Who cares about a few more manufacturing jobs, federal govt needs money. Tariffs will bring in 300-500B/year.
Who pays for…. mostly likely outcome is the increase impacts will be spread across suppliers (may have to cut prices to stay competitive), retailers (cut into margins), consumers (potential higher prices). Yes there are short term impacts, but only fairly minimal impacts to the long term equilibrium. So yes this is a way to raise more funds for the federal govt. The left has no appetite to budge of real social welfare reform (account for close to 70 percent of our spending). The right should have put in a an increase on tax revenue from the rich (easiest would have been to carve out a 1M+ bracket). In reality taxing the rich won’t move the deficit needle but it would have created leverage for spending reduction argument. So yea, Tariffs are like a peanut butter spread tax, but at least he is doing something. Sure criticize the BBB, but without it everyones taxes would have gone up (most impacted groups would have been middle and lower income families). When I say impacted, I am sure someone will find an example of a Billionaire saving 60k, but a 5-10 percent increase to the lower/middle class would have way worse of an impact on these families.
