Hello people, how common is a Amazon to PWC move ?
I’m interviewing for a Senior Associate role and TC seems to be more competitive than role in L5.
TC $114k- Base AMZ- $73k +$38kstocks ( vesting 17k$ due next year)
TC $135k Base PWC -$81$ + Bonuses ( 50k$)
Looking for managerial skills which the PWC role avails, and L6 promo doesn’t seem to be happening soon in current role. I’m also mentally stretched. I hear WLB in PWC is just as busy but can anyone confirm if this move makes any sense. Google Amazon

5x times??? Is that you are underpaid or what
What country do you have in mind?
Trading is completely different to your McKinsey consultant role. 5x seems to be somebody’s guess. I wouldn’t go about this choice this way. I will validate spending sometime trading or even setting up dummy trading account so you don’t lose your money in the process.. and only when you like move into trading as a career option. To me trading is a very operational job compared to shaping client strategy at McKinsey. I am concerned you are even considering this.
Ok, fair enough. Worth thinking through then..
Why worrying about career progression if that’s what you wanna do?
I have no experience in trading - I am not sure that this is what I want to do. I am really tempted by the salary, If I was to have the same salary I have now I would not go.
Is it going to be execution trading in banks/asset managers or proprietary trading in funds/market makers?
energy trading
Curious, is that 5x bump partially/mostly commission based? Just be wary since commodities (energy) trading definitely has its highs/lows.
But other than that, someone coming from the trading floor, you make your own career progression. There are a lot of transferable skills you learn and sharpen, so it’s really up to you in how you want to position it in the future
Business development if you stay in trading long enough to know tools and processes
At 5x my current salary I’m not sure I’d care about career progression, as I’d be retired before it became an issue…
Keep in mind that I am starting with very low disposable income
Are they going to teach you how to trade?
Yes
do it, you dont want to look back and think what if?
