One red flag to look out for is a lack of clarity in the job description or expectations. If the interviewer is unable to articulate what the job will entail, it could be a sign that the job may not be a good fit for you. Additionally, be aware of any interviewer behavior or comments that make you feel uncomfortable. If the interviewer is making inappropriate jokes or comments, it may be best to reconsider taking the job.
If the interviewer seems rushed and isn’t interested in learning more about you, that could be a sign that the company isn’t interested in investing in its employees. Also, if the interviewer is unprofessional or speaks negatively about the company or other employees, that could be a sign of a toxic workplace culture. Or if the interviewer is asking inappropriate or irrelevant questions, this is a big red flag and you should consider rethinking your interest in the company.
Biggest thing to look for red flag wise is how many times has the position been listed? If you see it pop up every two weeks, skip it. They obviously can’t keep people, so there’s an internal issue that they refuse to address, and just keep recycling good employees for the sake of the bad ones. It’s most likely a toxic environment, save your sanity and not apply.
I assume you’ve done your research on the company and in your network on LinkedIn or Glassdoor to see what the company culture is & how they treat people. If they are unable or unwilling to answer any questions you have that’s a red flag. If there’s anything unclear and the job description or anything, that’s clearly omitted like percent travel or how do they define hybrid that’s a red flag. If they suddenly change the job description on you in the interview and start talking about things that were in the job, description red flag. This just happened to me. If they don’t have an HR department that’s a red flag.
