I know there are real estate transaction firms, estate firms, and corporate transaction firms...but i guess from being in the PI world so long (only 4 years) i do not even know what type of firms could possible encompass most or all types of the areas i want to be. Joining Google in a few weeks and assuming I will be moving to the Bay Area sometime this year. For people who have kids, what do you do about schools? My wife and I are looking to buy a place but most the public schools in the South Bay are rated terribly. It’s good to note we don’t have kids yet but are trying to think longer term. Are schools even considered in the resale value of a house? Thoughts and insights appreciated!

Currently going through the hiring process for a role in San Francisco. They told me the starting base was $110K, but this sounds like pennies in a city like San Francisco! I am concerned that if I make it through I’ll basically be poor in such an expensive city, not to mention the taxes. I also have a baby so child care I am sure is expensive.
