I had interviewed for an internship position at EY for technology consultant program for summer 2022 and got a call where they extended an offer. I wanted to know if I can defer the internship offer to fall 2022 or a later start date after summer.
I apologize as I cannot reply to a comment or DM on this platform to anyone, but thanks for your answers in advance.

It's hard to say, there are so many variables that go into the selection process. And it's just a tough time to be looking now, so I wouldn't be too hard on yourself. It's possible, it's not you, it's just that you're facing unreal competition. I think perhaps focusing on coming across as someone who would be easy to work with might give you an edge. If your ability gets to the second round, maybe that would put you over the top.
How are your people skills? If you think your technical skills are up to par, I would work on being personable and on marketing yourself as someone who people want to work with. You want to come across as highly collaborative and open to feedback, etc.
Unfortunately the best advice I have is to find something close and undervalue your pay just to get into something. I started at 65k and after 4-5 years and two job hops I’m finally seeing 100k.
People just don’t wanna pay an engineer, to top it off management has gotten so bad in general when it comes to dispersing work most engineers I see are overworked or twiddling their thumbs.

To my experience, it’s often the exaggeration that may disqualify you. Make sure you are not doing something like that. I have always been transparent about my weakness and hardly got refused.
