Haven't decided yet - last year I sent chocolates confections from a small local shop. Earlier this year I shipped pints of ice cream from my favorite ice cream place. (My team is national.) I like the idea of supporting a local business - it's a win-win then

Lamar Jackson gifted his entire offensive line Rolexes for Xmas…partners gotta step it up!

funny

Assuming your talking about gifts to employees. Historically I’ve given nothing beyond a call to each team member to thank them for their contribution and talk about whatever is on their mind. I have no budget for gifting to 10 people and they seem to value one on one time more than another gift card. I may be wrong, curious what others are doing.

A lot of employees think all partners are making bank (600k+). If only that were really true, it would be easier to justify giving larger gifts. This incorrect partner earnings understanding is probably intentional, however.

I personally give out a few things (gift cards and wine) to key employees. Not sure the higher paid partners do that too though.

I gave notice to one of the partners at my small firm last week. It was amicable, but she told me to wait to tell the other partner until he returned from vacation. In the interim, she told the other partner and he blew up. He is now making insane demands and threatening to call my future employer if i don’t meet them. Most problematically, he refuses to meet with me to discuss transitioning my cases over the next week. I am not sure what to do, and I am worried about ethical rules.

My school has seen combinations of f2f, hybrid, and remote teaching/learning throughout the first half of the school year. After the MLK holiday, our district is returning to traditional f2f teaching 100%. I have 4 band classes (1 beginning, 2 intermediate, & 1 advanced), and as far as content pacing is concerned, we’re 1 9-week grading period behind. Is it a far fetched goal to get my students where they need to be by the end of the school year? How would you handle a situation like this?

Then just stop eating like a complete child on holiday after those are done 😅 any advice on what helped you get past the cravings and level set would be helpful! Feeling really lonely this holiday season and I think it's time for a change. I love my job but I'm realizing I devote too much time to it. I would really like to expand my social circle and potentially meet someone, but I don't really know where to start. Ideally my partner would also work in healthcare, but it isn't a dealbreaker for me. Ladies what should I do?? I'm a 32 year old woman with no kids.

Has anyone else gone back to relying more on public transportation with the surging Uber / Lyft prices. Anyone else tired of the assumption that because you’re a partner you have to think a certain way and believe certain things. I’m talking about wokeness, work from home, and the recent ever constant pushing of the needle to the left or risk getting “cancelled”. I’m fairly liberal politically so for me to be saying this I think may say something for the current climate. I should be able to hold and express my own opinions without being quashed because I’m not “woke” enough.

Looking at fee increases for 2021 tax compliance and probably going for 10% increase with most clients to account for increases to wage levels this year. I’m expecting to negotiate down to 5-8% on some clients. With producer price index at 8.6% I’m hoping to successfully sell clients on the reality of higher fees. Those that want to fire me over fees I feel ok losing clients with decreasing profitability that can be replaced within a year. What kind of increase are you pursuing?

Hi everyone. Hope everyone is enjoying their audit/tax season. I’m going into my 4th year as an audit partner. Let’s say the firm is in the top 5-10 range. Comp is $365k (draw plus distributions). Haven’t had comp discussions this year, but historically, it’s been 50-60k increases YOY. I’m sure this is under Big 4 salary levels, but for any National accounting firm partners, wanted to get thoughts. Thanks!

Has your firm gone woke? My leadership is consumed by virtue signaling and social justice to the point where nothing else (even our business) seems to matter. More importantly, they seem oblivious to the fact that not everyone shares their woke sensibilities and they’ve said some highly divisive and offensive things. There is no vehicle for dissent. Thinking of leaving a firm I’ve dedicated my life to as a result. It’s a sad realization.
