I work in public school preschool. No hour long break! We are supposed to get 25 minutes but it ends up being 15 mins by the time the kids ate settled in the cafe and are eating. We are supposed to get a 45 min. Prep time, but with the schedule this year it seems like we will be lucky to get 30 mins. I barely have time to use the restroom and choke down a protein bar for lunch.
When i was in college, I worked in a daycare. I used to eat and then take walks on my hour long lunch break for exercise and fresh air. I miss the break! But the pay is much better in public school.

I definitely agree that in a lot of jobs it's hard to get a break. I'm really grateful that as a daycare teacher I get a break but I definitely wish the pay was better .
I’m middle school; I get a 20 (30 on the schedule) minute lunch period. That’s when I get to use the restroom and sit (good day) for 10 minutes of music or silence. If we’re doing class activities, I use the 10 minutes to set up for the next two classes. My first planning period (45 minutes) is spent in grade level content (English) to go over data from the previous week, fine tune next week’s lesson plans and prepare the following two or three weeks’ preliminary lesson plans, and on Fridays we have professional development. IF we’re lucky we get a period to meet with our team members or parents who have scheduled conferences. My personal planning period (45 minutes, but closer to 35) is spent grading, making calls/texts/emails to parents, making copies, researching materials that I hope won’t bore ME or my students, and starting to clean up as much as I can (hate leaving a PURE mess for maintenance). That’s my regular week, but ONE Friday a month, my grade level celebrates birthdays during a planning period. This affords us the opportunity to enjoy food, fun, and interactions with one another. It also strengthens our bonds so we ALL pitch in when someone has a “technical difficulty”.
It's great that the birthday celebrations give you a time of connection. We all need that.

Planning out your week is a good idea!

We don't really get a break. We have team plan and personal plan. Some teachers use their personal plan time to work out, nap, read or just chat with other staff members. I like to put in a few grades.
When I worked in healthcare there were a lot of days with no breaks. I'm so sorry I know it sucks
