Is this oracle / netsuite position that is posted all over LinkedIn?
I worked in sales for 18 years before going back to school for my Macc and cpa and going to work with pwc. I can say unequivocally that you have to sacrifice some morals to do well in sales. But my soul for many years until I decided to do something different. It's also a very stressful life, very cut throats, and the other team members are very frat house in nature. Finally, you can lose your job in an instant. It's always been a "what have you done for me lately" mentality in sales. I worked for several year as a Pfizer rep, then for 15 years as a dealer rep for BMW and then Hyundai.
Friend started two weeks ago in Chicago for that from protiviti... answer to follow
Sales is good.. but you can't just skate by like in public - you have to work for everything you make. My dad did it for his career and was really successful and some of my siblings do it now but just know you have to have the sales skills and the people management and networking skills to make it past rep/agent position. So just be honest with yourself about your strengths & weaknesses and if you think you can do it and be happy in your job, go for it. If every day will be out of your comfort zone then just stay in accounting and enjoy your workday where you work mostly on your own
Staying in accounting is not an option at all. But I was thinking to grow within a corporate structure. Go into some strategy/ financial planning role and be closer to operations. But that path isnt that clear. Sales is awesome, but not sure if I will grow or able to switch later to something else. I wouldn’t want to stay in sales all my life. Don’t know how this specific position evolves though. Donno...
Any update on the friend

Company will be a good name on resume. They train pretty well. Not 100% how growth path looks like though
Interested in any perspective here too
What's the risk if you don't meet sales quotas that you lose your job after a year or whatever intro period they give you? Sales is a different mindset but it seems they make the most money if they're good
I’m pretty confident with meeting the quotas and blending in. Im more concerned with further development. Im just afraid that i will be just placed in one place and will not be able to go anywhere after. It is still fsho better that accounting position somewhere. But I’m currently comparing it to the fpa roles and growing within some corporation.

Does anybody know anything?? It is my 4th time asking a question on fishbowl and no reasonable advise. This app seems pretty useless :(
It's sales. What is so confusing about this. If you hit quotas it is great. If not, it is rough. The hardest part is that you don't have that much control over it..it's a lot of luck. Also a lot of people working in sales have a frat mentality. I went from sales (127k a year to start if 100% quota) to public accounting (60k to start).
I think ur confusing sales with other stuff. There is no going on from sales to other roles generally.
