Just hire some Filipinos, they're so much passionate when it comes to work. They might be small ( in appearance) but they're well dedicated and flexible.
Work ethic has most DEFINITELY changed since Covid. All these younger folks we have working now don't want to actually work. They are constantly calling in and slacking off.
While I was managing stores, just a few years prior to Covid, the younger group was very demanding and expected to not put so much effort in- there thinking , not mine. I think after Covid it has gotten worse but it started before.

I think expectations on both sides have shifted since COVID. Some newer folks value balance more, but that doesn’t always mean lack of work ethic—often it’s about clearer boundaries and training. That said, finding truly self-motivated people does feel harder than it used to.

I completely understand the need for balance. Constant call outs, complaining about work when it’s not even busy and they do that bare minimum anyway, no one having the ambition to be more than avg….its mind boggling
I thought it was just me who thought this. I’m only 24 but the next lot of 18 year olds don’t want to do anything at all and they look at me like I’m crazy for constantly keeping myself busy and working.
Are they paid well though? Genuinely paid well enough to live comfortably even with inflation? Because I can't think of a single retail or hospitality job near me where that is the case. It is very hard to be motivated at work just to go home and panic because you can't buy groceries and pay rent in the same month.

Has anyone ever been paid well enough? I’m in hospitality and they are paid very well for the work. I understand the need to support yourself, that’s why all of us work. We’re all a part of this game…
It says hospitality. Where do you work, a hotel? Are they hiring? I ran a small motel in. Marion for about 2 years until my boss sold the place and moved back to his real home. After that I worked at a chain hotel in housekeeping. There was a lot to do first thing in the morning we would have a small breakfast then close the area down. Then it was spilt us and off to change over rooms.
I was considered the head boss of the first motel because I did everything and anything . I lived on the premises so I was on call 24/7 but I didn't mind. I loved my job and my boss(the owner) like family.

Hotel. We are actually cutting staff. Yep, around the holidays and preparing to make more cuts in January. It’s a mess.
